Student Orientation
As per Standard 6.1 of National Code 2018, BIT provides assistance to students to adjust to study and life in Australia, including through the provision of an age and culturally appropriate orientation program that includes information about
- Student support services available to students in the transition to life and study in a new environment.
- language, literacy and numeracy support
- emergency and health services
- legal services
- facilities and resources
- complaints and appeals processes; and
- any student visa condition relating to course progress and/or attendance as appropriate
- BIT’s expectation of students as outlined in the Students Code of Conduct referred to the BIT Student Handbook
You are required to take part in an Orientation, which starts on the first day of commencement of your course and is organised to inform new students about the study program, their faculty, units of courses and most of the aspects of life at BIT. We ensure that our students learn in an environment free from harassment or discrimination. We also refer students to community support services.
Orientation not only provides you an opportunity to become familiar with the campus but also the City of Melbourne.
Orientation held at Main Campus: Brighton Institute Of Technology,
380 Bourke Street Melbourne Victoria 3000 Australia Phone : +61 3 9642 1770
All international students must also complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) form at the time of orientation to identify competence in literacy and numeracy levels which will highlight whether or not an additional student support service is required on an individual basis.
In addition to the above, we recommend students to visit the following websites to make a successful transition and adjust to study and life in Melbourne:
